Xunta Initiative
Public support for the sector
The Galician regional government is currently engaging in a number of actions to boost the sector.
Galician Offshore Wind Observatory
It is a pioneering initiative in Spain, launched by the Xunta de Galicia. It provides a forum for dialogue to identify opportunities and analyse the impact of the installation of offshore wind farms in the territory, respecting the compatibility and coexistence between these activities and the preservation of the ecosystem. The industry is present in this Observatory, represented by the GOE-Asime, as are the maritime-fishing sector and related organisations.
Galician Marine Energy and Energy Storage Innovation Pole
The Xunta de Galicia has also promoted the Galician Marine Energy and Energy Storage Innovation Pole. This initiative furthers the agreements reached within the Observatory and offers unique testing infrastructure to test floating offshore wind prototypes and carry out studies.
