National alliances
Galicia is promoting strategic alliances with other regions in northern Spain to create a shared strategy to position these regions as an international benchmark for offshore wind energy. The outcome is Supercluster Atlantic Wind (SAW), an alliance of the GOE-Asime, SICC and AINER clusters in Galicia, Cantabria and Asturias respectively, which has also been signed by the regional governments of the three regions.
This initiative has achieved important milestones, such as the awarding of the European project Bahía H2 Offshore, an initiative coordinated by SAW, in which an offshore pilot plant is being developed to produce hydrogen and green ammonia through offshore wind power.
International alliances
Galicia is also forging links in the promotion of offshore wind energy at the cross-border level. The AOWINDE Project, financed by European funds, is an initiative led by Asime in collaboration with the Xunta de Galicia and 15 other organisations from Galicia and Portugal. They are working together to draw up a common roadmap for the offshore wind industry in the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion, turning it into a leading pole of innovation.
